Benson Turamye - Executive Director

The Department of the Office of the Executive Director is one of the departments in the Authority. In addition to being the chief executive officer, the Executive Director is the head of this department.

As the chief executive officer, the Executive Director has responsibility for overall implementation of the Authority strategic plan and holds full accountability for the Authority. He also oversees the development of the Authority's strategic partnerships plus supervising the corporate and public affairs unit.

Mr. Benson Turamye, the current Executive Director, and head of the department has served at PPDA for over 20 years at different levels.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University and is member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supplies (MCIPS).

Mr. Turamye is at the forefront of the implementation of public procurement management reforms, geared towards promoting efficiency, transparency integrity, accountability and development of domestic industry in public procurement and disposal. Such reforms include:

  • Improving the Procurement and Disposal Legal Framework;
  • Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP);
  • Implementation of Reservation and Preference schemes;
  • Promoting Sustainable Procurement; and
  • Empowering citizens in Contract Monitoring for the better service delivery and Sustainable National Development.
He is a family man, married with three children. He is a Rotarian and a lay Canon in the Church of Uganda.
