
Benson Turamye - Executive Director
The Office of the Executive Director is one of the key departments within the Authority, headed by the Executive Director, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall implementation of the Authority’s strategic plan and holds full accountability for the Authority’s performance. He also oversees the development of strategic partnerships and supervises the Corporate and Public Affairs Unit.
Mr. Benson Turamye, the current Executive Director, has served the Authority for over 20 years in various capacities. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University, and he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS).
Mr. Turamye plays a leading role in implementing public procurement reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, integrity, accountability, and the development of the domestic industry. Key reforms under his leadership include:
- Strengthening the Procurement and Disposal Legal Framework;
- Advancing Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP);
- Implementing Reservation and Preference Schemes;
- Promoting Sustainable Procurement; and
- Empowering citizens in contract monitoring to improve service delivery and support sustainable national development.
Beyond his professional role, Mr. Turamye is a family man, married with three children. He is an active Rotarian and serves as a Lay Canon in the Church of Uganda.
