PPDA HOSTS 8TH LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT CARDERS’ FORUM

PPDA organized the 8th Local Government Carders’ Forum at Mt.Elgon Hotel in Mbale attended by procurement carders from the different Local Government Entities.

The cadre forum is a platform for procurement carders to air out their views and concerns as well as learns from PPDA about new developments in the regulation and operation of public procurement in Uganda.

PPDA’s Ag .Director Capacity Building Ronald Tumuhairwe officially opened the 2 day workshop and urged the procurement professional in the local governments to promote efficiency and effectiveness in the procurement process and avoid delays and failure to absorb allocated budgets to their entities.

The key issues discussed during the forum include:

  • Performance of the Local Governments in the PPDA annual Procurement audits and compliance checks
  • Evaluation criteria for procurement of revenue collection centers and work projects Revised PPDA Reservation guidelines to promote local content in public procurement.
  • Validation of Standard Bidding Documents for Management of Markets
  • Contract Management Implementation Challenges in Local Governments
  •  Electronic government procurement
  • Amendment of the PPDA Act to improve on the efficiency and effectiveness of public procurement
  • Low absorption of procurement budgets in local governments
  • Bench-marking best practices from well-performing entities for better results.
