The Institute of Procurement Professionals of Uganda (IPPU) is an association of local procurement professionals whose set up has been spear-headed by the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development (MOFPED) and Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) in consultation with other stakeholders in the procurement and supply management sector.

The idea to form IPPU was as a result of the growing concern to have in place an institutional self-regulating framework which would ensure that the procurement professionals and practitioners conduct themselves professionally as well as maintain best procurement practices.

These efforts have been led by PPDA who helped set up a committee to prepare for the set up of the professional body. The work of this committee led to the incorporation of IPPU on 4th April 2008 as a company limited by guarantee and the election of the IPPU interim Council in May 2008. In September IPPU appointed its first office bearers lead by Executive Secretary with their main task of the secretariat was to start the operations and recruitment of members to IPPU.
