IPPU – Membership Categories

1. Full Membership, Certified Procurement Practitioner (CPP)

A person shall be eligible for Certified Procurement Practitioner membership of Institute if he or she attains or possess the following;

a) Passes the qualifying examinations conducted by the board, under this Memorandum and Articles of Association and completes training prescribed by the Council or its equivalent

b) Is a member of a Society or an Institute of procurement and supply chain management approved by the Council as being a society or Institute with equivalent status or higher, and

c) Has got a minimum working experience of five years in Procurement and/or Supply Chain management related field.

Recognised Institutes for enrolment

IPPU recognises the following Institutes for first enrolment. This means that full members of these institutes will become full members of IPPU upon application and paying the relevant fees of IPPU.

  1. CIPS UK.
  2. NEVI of Netherlands
  3. ISM of the USA
  4. CIPSA of Australia
  5. IPSA of South Africa
  6. Institute of Supply chain management of Zambia.

Members of other Institutes which offer professional courses in procurement and supply management but are not listed will only be given first enrolment if the council approves that Institute.

2. Graduate Member:

This refers to an individual who has attained academic qualification in the field of Procurement and Supply Chain Management. This category includes holders of degrees/diplomas in the field of Procurement and Supply management but do not posses professional qualifications.

3. Affiliate Member:

Category for individuals who have strong interest in procurement supply management in Uganda and not satisfying the other categories of hereinafter mentioned members. Affiliate members can keep up to date with current thinking and trends and participate to influence IPPU policies.

4. Student member:

Refers to a member who is registered, undertaking professional/academic studies leading to qualification in the field of procurement and supply chain management offered by an approved Institute or University

5. Fellow Member:

Refers to the most senior grade of membership conferred upon an existing member who demonstrates a high level of achievement and at least 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.

6. Corporate Membership

Corporate membership is designed for Institutes or organisations, which recognise the need for professionalism in Purchasing and Supply Management. By paying a corporate annual fee these organisations will enjoy a wide range of benefits. Corporate members will be invited to participate in IPPU organised events at corporate discount rates.
